巴菲特所领略到的第一件事：学会看世界，看众生，看民间疾苦。
人，活在自己的认知中，活在自己的观念中。
我们以为自己了解这个世界，但这只是一个错觉。我们所了解的，是自己的主观认知，并非是这世界本身。我们所了解的众生，也不过是自我的投影。正因为我们对这世界缺乏足够了解，所以才会做事磕磕碰碰，总是面临着巨大的生存压力。
走出去，走出自己的心，你才会知道，世界不是你想象的那样，你的认知才会打开，才会适应这个世界，才会体恤苍生之苦。

巴菲特领略到的第二件事：遇到恶，才知道什么叫善。
巴菲特的一个同学，在救济中心照料几个孩子。其中一个小孩子暴力倾向严重，无故殴打其它小朋友。巴菲特同学就劝导暴力孩子。
不曾想，暴力孩子认真解释说：我是为他们好呀，他们不乖不听话，我才训诫他们的。难道你希望他们都变成坏孩子吗？

巴菲特领略到的第三件事：善良无处不在。
在救济中心服务的起初，巴菲特心中有种成见，认为贫穷是个人品质所导致。尤其是遇到对他不友善的人时，这种想法更为坚定。
但有一天，他发现一个身患重病，对所有人恶言相向的老婆婆，坐在门前抚摸一只猫。而那只猫，在救济中心只接受老婆婆的抚摸，对其它人充满警觉。
这件事儿让巴菲特猛然醒悟：每个人心中，都有个最脆弱的地方。只要你找到它，所谓的爱心或帮助，才会真正的有意义——这也是巴菲特成就事业与慈善的理念。说来简单，但除非心灵猛然一击，否则并不能领悟。

巴菲特领略到的第四件事：你所拥有的一切，并非是源于你的能力。
年轻时的巴菲特，喜欢卖弄聪明，迷信当时在美国风行的励志鸡汤。认为凭自己的智力，理应得到更多。
但在救济中心服务过之后，他的看法慢慢改变。
他发现，一个人手中的一切，可以分成两部分：一部分是环境赋予的，另一部分才是自己努力得到的。如果一个人误把环境赋予当成自己的能力，就会陷入愤怒之中，就会扭曲自我认知，最终成为一个愤愤不平、但一事无成的人。
巴菲特正是避免了这一点，才成就了自己的事业。

巴菲特领略到的第五件事：许多能力比你强的人，但环境比你更差。
巴菲特将此称为“幸运卵巢”。他曾说：在那些最底层的人中，不乏有比我或比尔·盖茨智力更高的人，但是他们生来不幸，苦难的环境摧毁了他们。他们付诸了全部的智慧，只是用来与环境做抗争。
所以，永远不要在那些境遇比你更差的人面前表现出优越感。
巴菲特说：优越感，可以用来衡量人的愚蠢程度：
你的优越感有多强，你就有多愚蠢。

巴菲特在救济中心，见到许多年轻时挥金如土、一掷千金，但人生渐行渐下，最终一贫如洗的人。他说：这些人共同的特点是：脆弱，依赖性强，总是渴望更多关注。事实上，这些人都曾出身于富贵之家，但他们把所有的钱，都花在用来购买自尊上。
但是，自尊是源自内心的力量，花再多的钱，也无法从外界买到。

巴菲特领略到的第七件事：如果你不努力，就会被环境所压倒。
环境有两种，一种是绝对环境，另一种是相对环境。
绝对环境，就是彻底灭杀你能力的情形。比如说贫困地区，资本匮乏，纵然你能力再强，也难以养活自己，更难以有更好的发展。
相对环境则不然。
相对环境因为资本充裕，因而构成能力的等级线：如果你的经济状况低于平均线，这个落差就是你能力的缺失。如果你的经济状况高于平均线，高出的部分就是你的能力——巴菲特说：如果一个人，有资本充裕地带还显得有心无力，那就需要重新认识自己了。

巴菲特领略到的第八件事：能力有两种，一是自身的存活能力，二是帮助别人的能力。
巴菲特说：那些错把环境赋予当做能力的人，最容易高估自己。但在帮助别人的时候，他们就可以客观衡量自己了。
当一个人能够正确衡量自己，他就会变得强大而无畏。哪怕这个人处在绝对贫困的环境之下，也会走出绝望的低谷。
相反，现实面前不肯正视自我的人，会在自己心中制造迷境幻象。用一些似是而非的观念迷惑自己，而我们人生唯一的工作，就是避免这种情形出现。

巴菲特领略到的第九件事：能力的本质是资本。
年轻人的心，纯净纯粹，对金钱有种本能的厌恶与抵触。
小时候的巴菲特，虽然显露出了商业的天资，但未能免俗，一样对资本怀有成见。
但在救济中心服务期间，他的想法慢慢改变。他亲睹了贫穷，而贫穷往往会带来自尊的缺失。所谓悲悯，所谓善行，所谓帮助，这一切都是建立在充足的资本之上的。如果一个人对资本怀有偏见，又如何在这个世界践行自己的良善？
这就是巴菲特后来成为股神的一个重要因素，他渴望帮助更多的人，就必须赋予自己更强的能力。

——但贫穷并不伟大，相反的是，贫穷是需要整个社会合力改变的不公平。
