The Carpenters

Karen and Richard Carpenter at the White House, August 1, 1972

The Carpenters were an American vocal and instrumental duo of Karen (1950–1983) and Richard Carpenter (b. 1946).They produced a distinct soft musical style, combining Karen's contralto vocals with Richard's arranging and composition skills. During their 14-year career, the Carpenters recorded ten albums, along with numerous singles and several television specials.

Now & Then

The Carpenters met the President again on April 30, 1973, when they performed a special concert at the White House, though the event was overshadowed by the resignation of White House Chief of Staff, Bob Haldeman and assistant John Ehrlichman over the Watergate scandal, which would ultimately also lead to Nixon's resignation.

Their next album, Now & Then, was named by the duo's mother, Agnes. The album also included a Leon Russell composition, "This Masquerade", and the ambitious "Yesterday Once More", a side-long tribute to oldies radio which incorporated renditions of eight hit songs from previous decades into a faux oldies radio program. The single version of the latter became their biggest hit in the United Kingdom, holding the number 2 spot for two weeks, and became the Carpenters' biggest worldwide hit.

Carpenters是Karen(1950-1983)和Richard Carpenter(生于1946年)的美国声乐和乐器二人组。他们制作了一种独特的柔和音乐风格,将Karen的控制声与Richard的编曲技巧相结合。在他们14年的职业生涯中,Carpenters录制了十张专辑,以及众多单曲和几部电视特辑。

Now & Then

Then is a word that puts things in order by time, or refers to a moment in time: you get up; then you have breakfast. You're married now; back then, you were single.

The word then can also be used as a consequence, often after the word if. If you watch the kids, then I will clean the house. Don't confuse then with than, which sounds similar. Than is used to compare two things: I like spaghetti better than macaroni and cheese. Then is about time or consequence: you eat dinner, then get dessert. If you're good, then maybe you'll get a big dessert.

When I wrote the first sentence of my existential poem, I didn't know how to write the word "then". Later, when listening to the song reproduced yesterday, I thought a lot about the relationship between my present and my former (then), I could not help but rain. Then I looked up the information of this song and saw that it was actually from Now & Then album, which exactly corresponds to the existence (experience) problem of the person I analyzed these two days.

And hear football, can't play; Think of zhangjiakou explosion (vinyl chloride), and Then see: [Artwork for U.S. vinyl single, single by Carpenters, from the album Now & Then, B - side: "Road Ode"), had the vinyl.
