Missing My Departed Wife

By Yuan Zhen

Translated by Tang Yihe

To those who have crossed the deep and wide sea water is nothing.

Clouds are no clouds except those over Mount Wushan that are floating.

I don't feel like looking back at flowering shrubs when I'm passing,

Because partly to Buddhism and partly to you I'm devoting.

曾经沧海难为水,除却巫山不是云。 取次花丛懒回顾,半缘修道半缘君。
